Important Information

This year Daylight Saving Time (DST) extends by approximately four weeks. In compliance with this provision in the Energy Policy Act of 2005, DST dates in the United States and Canada will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November).

Problems because of this

Because computer systems are not aware of this change, if nothing is done, the time on the computer systems will be off by one hour during this extended daylight savings time(DST). The biggest impact would be be to those who use there Calendar for appointment and meetings. During the extened DST time, your appointments would also be off by an hour.

Step 1. Our Initial Recommendation

Please follow this step if you use your Outlook Calendar before you apply the patches

If you are a calendar user, here are two steps we recommend you follow.

a) Print a copy of your calendar for the weeks of March 11th, 18th, 25th and October 28th.

b) Go through your calendar entries between March 11th 2007 and April 1st 2007 and also between October 28th and November 4th and add your appointment times to your calendar entry subject line. That way, if an entry is off because of the DST changes you will know for sure the start and end times of that entry.

Step 2. Patching your computer

Files

A) Install this patch to automatically update your operating system. This patch can only be installed on a computer running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Download the file and follow these instructions
