How to block a specific host in Linux

The following procedure can be used to block a specific host from any communication to your Linux box. This is a tempory solution, as the setting will not be kept when the computer is rebooted. You would either need to rerun the command after every reboot or add the lines to your startup file.

'su' into the super user account and type the following at the prompt:
route add x.x.x.x reject
(Replacing the x's with the actual IP address)

To reallow access to that host type at the prompt:
route del x.x.x.x reject
