Making attachments accessible in Outlook Express 6
With Outlook Express 6, the default security policy is to block all email attachments. This article explains how to turn that feature off.
To change that setting, follow thses simple steps.
- Open Outlook Express.
- From the menu bar, click on 'Tools', and then on 'Options' from the drop down menu. (see figure 1)

- With the Options box open, click on the tab called 'Security'.
- Under the first section titled 'Virus Protectection', uncheck the line
'Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potenially be
a virus'. (see figure 2)

- Then click 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.
You will now have access to all your attachments. To re-enable the feature, just follow the steps again and put a checkmark back in the box.
